After being available to download for the past couple of days, the leader of the Ubuntu-based operating system has made the release official, allowing users to download the final Linux Mint 18 Cinnamon and MATE editions from a mirror close to them, or via the project’s torrent links.
Prominent features of Linux Mint 18 “Sarah” include X-Apps, a set of in-house built applications (Xed, Xviewer, Xreader, Xplayer, and Pix) forked from popular projects. This gives Linux Mint users a collection of the best apps they can get, which come with support for the latest GTK3 technologies, as well as HiDPI displays.
Linux Mint 18 also introduces a brand new theme called Mint-Y, which is based on the Arc GTK theme and Moka icons. However, the Mint-Y theme is not enabled by default. Additionally, the Gufw graphical firewall configuration tool has been added, and the login manager is updated to MDM (Mint Display Manager) 2.0.
