According to Canonical’s Łukasz Zemczak, the testing of the upcoming Ubuntu Touch OTA-12 software update is almost over, and things are looking great. No blockers, and everything works as expected for almost all devices, with a small exception as far as Meizu PRO 5 and BQ Aquaris M10 are concerned, since they need custom tarball re-spins.
However, this an insignificant aspect, considering that the OTA-12 update is on its way to Ubuntu Phone and Ubuntu Tablet owners, coming with multiple improvements and a few new features. When? It looks like the phased-out update should start landing next week, on Wednesday, July 20.
In the meantime, the Ubuntu Touch developers are working hard on implementing new features to the next major release, the OTA-13, which should be available this fall, as well as to fix more of those annoying bugs reported by users all the time. For example, Ubuntu Touch OTA-13 will come a big update for libertine, fixing numerous issues.

Hi: I’ve read that with OTA12, you are now able to install x-based applications on the Aquaris M10 Ubuntu Edition. I am probably missing something really simple, but I can’t figure out how. Anyone have any URLS or hints?
Installing apps is done via a terminal on the desktop while the M10 is hooked up via USB cable.

I managed to install MyPaint on the M10 and it worked fine. The sidebars are a bit weird (they’re now bottom bars) but it works!
