Dubbed Atticus, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 was announced approximately 8 months ago, on the 14th of February, and it was entirely based on the Debian GNU/Linux 8.5 “Jessie” operating system, which means that it shipped with the long-term supported Linux 4.1.17 kernel and the GNOME 3.18 desktop environment with GNOME Shell 3.18.3.
On September 30, 2016, the end-of-life (EOL) development status was reached, which means that Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 “Atticus” will no longer receive security and software updates. However, the software repositories will remain open one more week, until October 10, 2016, for users to upgrade their systems.
The latest stable and supported version of the Debian-based operating system is Parsix GNU/Linux 8.10 “Erik,” to which you must upgrade your Parsix GNU/Linux 8.5 “Atticus” installation as soon as possible. After October 10, its repos will go offline to make room for the next major release, Parsix GNU/Linux 8.15 “Nev.”
