Based on the latest technologies and open source software packages from the Debian GNU/Linux 8 “Jessie” (Debian Stable) repositories, Netrunner Core 16.09 “Avalon” is here after being in development for the past year or so, and it gives users an early taste of what’s coming to the full-featured Netrunner Desktop version later this year.
Shipping with the KDE Plasma 5.7.5, KDE Applications 16.04, KDE Frameworks 5.27.0, and Qt 5.7.0 technologies, Netrunner Core 16.09 “Avalon” introduces a new Applications Menu that’s similar to the one used by Google on its popular ChromeOS Linux-based operating system, making it easier for you to browse available apps.
Furthermore, it’s now easier to activate and deactivate various core KDE Plasma services, such as Akonadi, KWallet, and Baloo, via the new Plasma Services KCM (KDE Control Module), and the noVNC HTML5-based VNC (Virtual Network Computing) client is installed and activated by default.
