Based on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system and shipping with the long-term supported Linux 4.4 kernel, Linux Lite 3.2 arrives today with a focus on security, as the developer implemented support for fetching the latest Linux kernel security updates as soon as they become available in the repositories. These will be distributed to users via the Install Updates tool.
Also new and exciting in the Linux Lite 3.2 release is an optional feature called Lite Desktop Widget, which promises to offer users basic system information about the installed distribution right on their desktops. GRUB bootloader support for booting Linux Lite alongside other GNU/Linux distributions has been implemented as well in Linux Lite 3.2. Moreover, Lite Welcome now lets users upgrade from the get go. Linux Lite 3.2 ships with a wide range of up-to-date software applications and components, including but not limited to the Mozilla Firefox 49.0.2 web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird 45.4.0 email and news client, LibreOffice 5.1.4.2 office suite, VLC Media Player 2.2.2, GIMP 2.8.18 image editor, as well as the latest Whisker Menu application launcher for the Xfce desktop environment used in the OS.
