In June 2015, Sony officially announced the devices that are eligible to receive the Android 5.1 Lollipop update. However, the well-received Sony Xperia M4 Aqua was apparently missing from the list, GSM Arena reported. By October last year, Sony hinted at the possibility of the Marshmallow update for the M4 Aqua.
Now, an official confirmation in the form of a tweet says the Japanese tech giant will skip the Android 5.1.1 update, instead, the Xperia M4 Aqua will directly be updated to Android 6.0 Marshmallow. However, the official Tweet did not talk about any specific time frame of the firmware rollout.
