Android device owners who enjoy testing the latest apps before they’re widely released may be interested in a new beta from Google.
The company has launched a ‘testing program’ for its Google Maps app on Android devices, offering early access to new features ahead of their general release.
As Android Police notes, you’ll have to opt in to the program in order to be able to download the preview from the Google Maps beta channel on the Play Store. Once you’ve signed up, Google says that “you’ll get an update with the testing version shortly” thereafter.
Alternatively, you can also install the APK directly by downloading it from APK Mirror – but without signing up to the testing program, it’s not clear if installing the app that way will allow it to automatically update to the newest preview releases as they become available.
The current preview version is Maps 9.27 – but bear in mind that those who are running the Android N Developer Preview are already on version 9.30.
