Ubuntu MATE project leader Martin Wimpress informed about the availability of the MATE 1.14 desktop environment for the Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) operating system.
The number one question asked by Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS users since the April 21 launch of the GNU/Linux distribution has been “When can I get MATE Desktop 1.14 for Ubuntu MATE 16.04?”
After weeks of hard work, Martin Wimpress and his team of skilful Ubuntu MATE developers have managed to upgrade the MATE 1.12 desktop environment that shipped with Ubuntu MATE 16.04 LTS (Xenial Xerus) by default to the latest release.
They put together a PPA (Personal Package Archive) with the MATE 1.14.1 packages, so you can easily upgrade your installation, but also receive automatic updates for future maintenance versions of the MATE desktop environment.
