Dirty COW: Google releases a make-do patch for Linux vulnerability

Google has made an effort to fix the Dirty COW problem affecting Android devices, but not released an actual patch for the flaw. The Copy-on-Write vulnerability in the Linux kernel has been present for almost a decade and is now being exploited in the wild.
Linux leads to Android, and Google has done something about it, just not very much at this point.
Samsung has already released a security update for the problem, and the Korean firm has a huge collection of incendiary phones to cope with at the same time.
A Google security update described the patch as supplemental, as it doesn’t come as part of the firm’s usual monthly Android fix round up.
The search, advertising and software firm suggested that it was giving the handset manufacturers that have adopted Android a chance to come up with their own fixes.
