Based on Ubuntu 16.04.1 LTS (Xenial Xerus), Linux Lite 3.2 promises to be a great release, come November 1, 2016, designed not only for those who want to migrate from a Microsoft Windows operating system but also for power users who like to boot multiple GNU/Linux distributions on the same machine.
There are many other interesting improvements in this Beta release of Linux Lite 3.2, besides the GRUB bootloader improvements mentioned above. Some of these include a revamped boot splash that’s easier on the eyes, better contrasting for the system tray icons, resource usage, and terminal theme, and a Help manual for newcomers.
It uses the latest version of the WhiskerMenu Applications menu, along with up-to-date software versions, among which we can mention the Mozilla Firefox 49.0 web browser, Mozilla Thunderbird 45.3.0 email and news client, LibreOffice 5.1.4.2 office suite, VLC Media Player 2.2.2 video player, and GIMP 2.8.18 image editor. Under the hood, Linux Lite 3.2 Beta uses the Linux 4.4 LTS kernel.
